The Gordon Craig Theatre has been entertaining audiences from across the home counties since it first opened its doors in 1975. This 501 seat theatre boasts a varied programme of live entertainment, ranging from one-night variety-music shows to week-long drama productions.
The theatre has also maintained a proud tradition of presenting first rate Opera, Dance and Orchestral Concerts.
The Main Hall has an exciting programme of Comedy and Live Music. Jethro, Jim Davidson, Dionne Warwick and Lesley Garrett are among some of the many sell-out acts that the 1200 seat auditorium has previously played host to.
Undoubtedly, one of the major highlights of the year is the Pantomime. Comprising of some of the top names in the entertainment world and budding local performers, the Pantomime attracts record-breaking attendances year on year.

La Cage Aux Folles - Cancelled
It is with great regret that we have decided the musical, La Cage Aux Folles, due to be performed at the Theatre this August, will not go ahead.
Despite intensive marketing activity with print, media and our extensive customer database, ticket sales have fallen well below expectation. Given the marketing activity yet to take place and the desire to give the show every opportunity to reach sales targets, the temptation to continue with the project was overwhelming. But even taking into consideration the performance of previous summer musicals and using our knowledge and expertise to judge where sales may lead, we could not anticipate an outcome that would be artistically satisfactory or financially acceptable.
The second summer production, Celtic Journey, a large scale Irish dance show involving some 50 local young dancers working alongside professional performers and choreographers, will go ahead as planned and I am sure will prove to be a spectacular and exciting event which I hope many of you will attend.
Once again to anyone involved with La Cage I can only say that the decision was not taken lightly and we are all very disappointed. The Gordon Craig Theatre summer musicals have become something of an institution since we began in 1992 and recent successes such as Annie, West Side Story, Titanic and 42nd Street have all been sell-outs and critically acclaimed, and will return. Celtic Journey will be our pride and joy for summer 2008 as Peter Pan was at Easter.
